Fire and Ice Video
Posted on February 15, 2010
Here is a short video of the Fire and Ice Festival we attended in Sheboygan, WI over the weekend.
Monday and snowing – Great day for me to edit!!!!!
Posted on February 15, 2010
Well after a great weekend in Door County, it is back to work. Bad news already this morning. It doesn’t appear that we will be filming the first Voices of Worship program, as a couple of the acts decided to back out. Very bad news. I have plenty of work ahead of me with 2 wedding videos to begin editing on.

We had a great time in Sheboygan, WI for the Fire and Ice Festival. Many talented artists were on hand doing ice and snow sculptors.
Our Hometown
Posted on February 12, 2010
March 1st we begin shooting and production of a new program called Home Town. We will be traveling to different towns to do short documentary type shows on interesting things about the area and town. This is going to be a blast and I can’t wait. I will be doing all the shooting and editing.

Back to Editing
Posted on February 12, 2010
Well FedEx stopped by yesterday and delivered a couple of more weddings for me to edit, so I really need to get over this awesome cold and get back to work. Next Tuesday we begin filming Voices of Worship, so my week of doing nothing is coming to a screeching halt.

Heading up to Door County today. Big ice sculptor show tomorrow so I am hoping to get some great pictures and video. Should be fun. Not sure if there is anything else to remember about his weekend. Hmmmm let me think about this.
Software We Use
Posted on February 11, 2010
We edit our video using Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere. Both are excellent programs and there are features I like and don’t like about both. For DVD and Bluray disc delivery, we use Adobe CS4 Encore. This software does an excellent job with both formats of DVD creation.
Voices of Worship Getting Close
Posted on February 10, 2010
We are anxiously awaiting our first shoot for our upcoming series to be shown on 2 of the local tv stations. The program is called Voices of Worship and is going to be a half hour variety show. We will be filming every week at different area churches. I have been preparing a template with the commercials, opening and closing credits, so once I film it, I can just edit and drop everything into place.
Bento Data Base

I have become a huge fan of Bento, the Filemaker Pro lite database for the Mac. It allows you to keep all of your passwords and login information at your fingers touch. Also comes in an iPhone app format.
Neenah at night

This was a fun little video we put together with some footage I shot in downtown Neenah, WI.
Computers we use
Posted on February 9, 2010
We have several computers, all macs. I have 2 machines I use for editing. One is an Intel Power Mac tower. I do most of my editing on this computer. I have a total of 13 terabytes of hard drive space. I also have 2 drive enclosures setup that are raid drives, so I will never lose anything that is on them. Although this seems like overkill, we shoot everything in HD and then copy the files to 2 different drives and so space gets full very fast when we are in the heart of the wedding season. Most of the drives are external esata drives. I also have an external Bluray burner. I also have a 27 inch Intel Imac, which I have been using to edit on. Along with our own weddings, I also edit weddings for other companies and I use this computer for that. It presently sits on our kitchen table. Janell is really pleased about that. Editing is a very tedious process. We normally do 10 weddings or so per year and I can also edit up to 15 or 20 more from other companies, so it is really important to make the process as interesting as possible. Being able to pick up the Imac and edit in a different part of the house is really nice and breaks up the monotony somewhat. Along with these 2 computers for editing, we have an older Imac for our bookwork and a laptop.
Cameras we use
Posted on February 9, 2010
We currently have 3 Sony Z7 cameras, which shoot in HD and SD. They record to Compact Flash cards, as well as tape. We have been recording to the cards as well as the tape. We find that the tapes offer us an easy backup solution. We rarely have to go back and use anything from the tapes, but it is nice to know they are filed away. Once the files are copied from the cards, the cards are re-formatted, so it can be a bit scary if you don’t have some kind of backup of the files. We do copy the files to 2 different hard drives though. The cameras have been awesome for us. We did have to learn to shoot everything in the manual mode and that took some time. They are also a bit heavier than our old cameras and bigger. Very solid cameras.
We also have a Canon 5d Mark II DSLR camera. We use this camera to get the pre ceremony, some of the exterior, pre reception and some of the dancing at the reception. It is a very exciting camera to use and mixes very well with our Z7′s. This camera takes beautiful video as well as 21 megapixel still photographs. I wish we could use this camera for everything, but at this time it is just used for some of the special shots.
Wedding Poster Add-on
Posted on February 9, 2010
One of our package add-ons is a movie poster with your wedding information on it.
The posters are 24 x 36 inches. They are stunning to look at. We can actually print anything
on them, so they could also be used for anniversary’s or special occasions.
