New Zacuto equipment!
Posted on April 7, 2011
We most recently expanded on our Zacuto camera support system. If you are interested in technical information, this is a post to read. Zacuto is probably the top rated manufacturer of camera support systems. What our system provides is a way to shoot video with the camera on the shoulder while shooting. The system also has a focus wheel on the side of the lens, making it much more accurate to focus quickly. It also has a viewfinder that enlarges the video in the viewer by 2x. A 7 pound weight on the back of the rig acts as a counter weight and makes the job of holding the camera steady easy. We feel this rig takes our video shooting to the next level.

Mary’s Desk

Playing with my Iphone/Hipstamatic application. I don’t think I would recommend using this type of cell phone plus application method for true portrait photography. Although a NYT photographer recently did a war documentary series using only his phone/app. The photos had a gritty realism to them that was enhanced by the soldiers not worrying about all the usual photo equipment. The shots you get are ‘all you get’-but that is something special sometimes!

When we think about all the ways we can take a photo, and take video, I never seem to remember that my Iphone has those capabilities! Jerry and I have been talking about this quite a bit. Not that my Iphone will ever replace my T2i Rebel or Sony Nex5…but for capturing ‘that moment’ right now-it should be the first thing I think about. So the challenge begins! Remember I have a camera with me at all times-it’s on my phone.

New Flash
Posted on March 28, 2011
Jerry decided I need to learn how to use an external flash. So-next thing I know there is a Canon 430EXII in my life. Besides a slight problem knowing why and when the red pilot light will come back on, I do think I understand why he wanted me to try it out. This bouquet of tulips seemed to want to be in a picture. The flash turned their deep yellow color almost golden. I played with the contrast and made a few other slight adjustments in Aperture and this is the result. I love the faint lines in the petals.

Y Mission Statement-Mark’s Story
Posted on March 22, 2011
The Scholarship Program is a sliding fee scale that is designed to provide services for any family, adult or senior who desires to participate and understands the benefits of the YMCA, regardless of their ability to pay the prescribed fee. Those not able to pay the full fee may be awarded Scholarship based on their demonstrated ability to pay and the YMCA’s ability to fund the subsidy.

A Favorite Bride
Posted on February 22, 2011
It’s hard to pick a favorite bride out of the 70+ brides we have worked with over the last 9 years. But this beautiful young lady certainly made the top 5. She was as lovely inside as out. We have done 3 weddings that involved her family. There is nothing more flattering than being asked to be part of a family for a second, let alone a third, time! At Anne’s wedding we had 4 brides in one location! What a wonderful treat for us. It was almost magical to see them all dancing at the same time.

Julia Photo Shoot 2-5-2011
Posted on February 7, 2011
Our little grand-daughter came over Saturday for a photo shoot. The living room was transformed into a photo gallery. She was a great model-willing to follow most of the instructions and seemed to have a ood time. Jerry spent the rest of the day playing with filters and experimenting with effects. It was good to see the equipment all set up and ready for use. The pictures were shot with a Canon 5D using a 50 mm lens. Effects and filters from Lightroom were played with-interesting to see the differences in the final photos.
The afternoon ended with a Tea Party! Not sure if that is usual for big-time magazine models, but it worked for Julia and Grandma!

Angel statue
Posted on January 18, 2011
This lovely Christmas angel was posed at the church for Ann and Justin’s wedding ceremony. The wings were so detailed that we kept walking over to look at it as we set up our equipment. Hand carved and donated to the church.

2011 Briday Show
Posted on January 17, 2011
We had a good time talking with prospective bridal couples January 7-8 at the Green Bay Shopko Hall Bridal Show. Being available for questions with our partners, MVP Video Productions, gave couples who stopped a good look at how their bridal video would come together. Recent weddings were high-lighted with HD demos giving a great feel for the quality of our work. And we had fun sampling wedding cake!

DeAnna and Todd
Posted on December 22, 2010
After seeing DeAnna and Todd at a wedding this weekend, I was reminded of how much they loved the wedding video we filmed for them. In the midst of switching over our website, I neglected to include the video. Enjoy the show. It was a beautiful wedding and one of our best weddings. We showed it at the Wedding show in Green Bay last January and got great comments from all who watched and even some tears.

We had a really great time filming Ashley and Mike’s wedding last Saturday. What a great couple and wonderful families. It was great to work with CDJ, Keith and Emily again too. Can’t wait to edit this one. It is going to be a great video.
